I note you credit one image to Chat GPT - but the other images are not credited nor titled. It would be good in the book to give credit where you can.

I also see this idea of separation and the mention of ego. Yet there is no explanation of this term ego - and only a little on how separation manifests. FOR me it would be good to explain this a bit more. For instance loneliness and being alone are 2 different things and I wonder about these kind of nuances with separation and ego. Are there places where they are useful? I struggle with the concept particularly of ego and how it manifests or is applied.

Your'e right about giving credit.

Ego. tough one. Within Judaism, Christianity, and and Islam the ego is the self-centered nature that must be humbled or surrendered to align with divine will.

Eastern view is an illusion that must be transcended to realize one's true nature.

Indigenous and shamanic - The ego is a false sense of separation from nature, spirit, and community.

Ego is what overidentifies with the material world and society. It is not evil.

I bring up what understand to be the balance -- the idea of a shared self -- with one eye to Transcendent God and the other towards our neighbor.

My personal view is more aligned with Western tradition, which I believe we must revive rather than destroy.

Thanks for the explanation - I struggle with this one, when others want me to have one and to have this sense of individualism. I mean I can get it when I play chess that it is a competitive game to win - but it is such a strange and alien way to think or operate for me.

It's an ongoing mediation of giving and receiving—to be okay with it, not beating your self up! as you grow to a natural state of giving and receiving as one.
